Researchers from the Sant’Anna School MeS (Management and Health) Laboratory produced a report on the health system performance 2018 covering 10 Italian regions (Basilicata, Calabria, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Liguria, Lombardia, Marche, Puglia, Toscana, Umbria, Veneto). The report provided facts and insights on which to base management and policy decisions for regional authorities and Trento-Bolzano province.

The report was presented on Friday, May 31, in Bari. 400 indicators served to measure performance and focused on strategic goals achieved. Data and measurements are used to integrate information into effective evidence-based governance.

The report also interpreted patterns of economic and social progress that fosters new approaches and develops suggestions for institutional and organizational innovations. The purpose is to deepen understanding of how hospitals and healthcare units have evolved in offering clinical best practice and appropriate therapies to improve the management theory and complex diseases treatment over time.

In the 15 years since its founding, the Sant’Anna School MeS (Management and Health) Laboratory has combined the disciplines of economics and management, employing the assessment tools to examine the healthcare system trends. The MeS (Management and Health) Laboratory is led by Professor Sabina Nuti who is currently serving as the Rector of Sant’Anna School. Michele Emiliano, as the President of Regione Puglia, attended the conference.
